There are few things that can get me out of my seat and snapping my fingers like Motown and musicals. My finger-snapping prayers have been answered in the form of the musical coming to Seattle next Summer.
Take a nostalgic stroll, or dance rather with Berry Gordy as he recounts the building of his empire and the creation of Motown Records. Motown Musical chronicles the beginnings of a particular sound, when music coming from the radio speakers demanded you sing along. Gordy sets out to bring a racially divided country together and define the unique sound that is Motown Music.
Gordy introduces us to timeless artists such as Diana Ross and the Supremes, Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, the Temptations and more. Motown the Musical showcases those artists and over 40 of the classic hits that everyone knows by heart. It will be the live action version of discovering music in my room with my first boombox as kid. My heart smiles just thinking about it. Look forward to singing and snapping along to your faves, such as “What’s Going On”, “Aint No Mountain High Enough” and ohmigoodness “Dancing in the Street”!
I’ll be dancing in my seat along with the cast of Motown Musical and consider there to be no better way to appreciate the sound of a generation than to see it it played out in full live color on stage. I’m snapping along just thinking about it…
This is going to be one of those events that is sold out WEEKS in advance and many wondering why and how they missed it… Don’t be one of those people!
